Where you'll see it
Nostalgia moments: revivals, reunions, remasters, comebacks

爷青回 (yé qīng huí) — literally "this grandpa's youth is back" — is what Bilibili users post when something they loved years ago suddenly returns: a band reunion, a game's remaster, an old creator's comeback video, a discontinued snack reappearing on screen. It was Bilibili's official danmaku of the year for 2020, and it says something true about the platform: many of its users have now watched for a decade, and their childhood media lives here.

The twins

  • 爷青回 — the happy one. The announcer's voice you recognize, the opening bars of a 2009 song, an old UP主 uploading again.
  • 爷青结 (yé qīng jié) — "my youth ends here." The sad twin, posted when something ends for good: a series finale, a retirement announcement, a long-running channel signing off.

Together they mark the emotional bookends of a community that grew up on this platform — and they're a useful signal for you: a danmaku wall full of 爷青回 means you're watching a moment that matters to people.

Where you'll see it

Comeback videos (李子柒's return drew walls of it), remasters and anniversaries, archaeology sessions on old uploads, and any comment section where the median viewer suddenly feels ten years younger.
